My thoughts on Good Girls season 1

Good Girls is about mothers who decide to rob a small supermarket to help with financial troubles.

By holding up a local supermarket, when sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby get frustrated with playing by the standards and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives.  Beth’s the perfect wife and mother, but her used-car-dealing, cheating spouse sent her family into massive debt; Ruby is actually married to a policeman but can’t afford the hospital expenses and advanced pills to treat her daughter; and Annie, a single mother, is kept in a terrible custody battle with her ex. The women plan the robbery in urgent need of funds, hoping to lighten their financial burdens.

Though exaggerated, these women face problems that are very real and very related. Beth is on the verge of losing her house, Annie is locked in a battle for custody and Ruby struggles to pay for her daughter’s expensive medication. All of this certainly gives the series’ plot an sense of reality, making the women’s acts appear a little less ridiculous. Met with these types of challenges, an ordinary person will not most likely lead to crime, so you can see why Beth, Annie, and Ruby went down that road. Having said that, if these women are as clever as the show portrays them, it just seems out of reach for them to even think without any repercussions that they might pull this heist off. Yeah, there are some unexpected consequences but it’s a little far-fetched to imagine that this trio really believes they can run away with the money and not pay any price for their acts.

This is a good show and would recommend watching it to all my friends. You will get addicted to this show pretty fast.
